The General Radio 1217-C Unit Pulse Generator was introduced in Catalog S (1965) and remained available through Catalog 1973.

The Type 1217-C is general purpose unit type pulse generator. It's an improved version of the Type 1217-B with increased pulse repetition frequency and faster transition times to less than 10 ns. The 1217-C features a 1.2 MHz PRF internally and doubles to 2.4 MHz with external drive. Other features are front panel outputs for positive an negative going pulses with variable amplitude control. Pulse duration is continuously variable from 0.1 μs to 1 s in seven ranges. Front panel synchronizing outputs are available for triggering external devices. An accessory Type 1217-P2 Pulse Trigger is available for single pulse triggering. The recommended power supplies are the Types 1201-C and 1203-B.

Specifications

  • PULSE REPETITION RATE
  • Internally Generated: 2.5 Hz to 1.2 MHz, ±5%
  • Externally Controlled: dc to 2.4 MHz with 1 V rms input, (0.5 V at 1 Mc/s and lower)
  • OUTPUT PULSE CHARACTERISTICS
  • Duration: 100 ns to 1 s in 7 decade ranges, ±5% of reading or ±2% of full scale or ±35 ns, whichever is greater.
  • Rise and Fall Times: Less than 10 ns into 50 or 100 Ω; typically 60 ns + 2 ns/pF external load capacitance into 1 kΩ (40 V).
