The General Radio 1232-P1 RF Mixer was introduced in Catalog R (1963) and remained available through Catalog U (1970).

The Type 1232-P1 is designed as an accessory for the 1232-A Tuned Amplifier and Null Detector but can used with other null detectors compatible with 10 kHz and 100 kHz IF output. The RF Mixer is comprised of three parts, a mixer to heterodyne the input signal and the local oscillator, a tuned transformer to isolate the local oscillator from the output, and finally a switchable filter for the two IF outputs. The choice of IF outputs are 20 kHz for input signals below 500 kHz and 100 kHz for above 500 kHz. A meter measures crystal current for adjusting the amplitude of the local oscillator. The coaxial cables used for the output and local oscillator are double-braided for extra shielding from RF fields.

The Type 1232-P1 is the mixer used in the Types DNT-5 and DNT-6 heterodyne detectors.
