The General Radio 1240-A Bridge Oscillator-Detector was introduced in Catalog S (1965) and remained available through Catalog 1978.
The Type 1240-A combines the Types 1232-A Null Detector and 1311-A Bridge Oscillator into a single unit. It can be configured for either bench version or rackmounted installation. The 1240-A is part of the 1620-A Capacitance-Measuring System.
