The General Radio 1217-A Unit Pulser was introduced in Catalog N (1954) and remained available through Catalog Q (1961).
The 1217-A is a general purpose unit type pulse generator. It uses internal or external drive to trigger the internally generated pulses. Below 100 Hz it uses trigger drive derived for the power mains, 100 Hz and above its internal oscillator is used. The pulse duration is continuously adjustable from 0.2 μs to 60 ms in five ranges. Negative and positive going pulses are available from separate front panel binding posts. As a unit instrument it requires an external power supply, the Type 1203-A is recommended.
Specifications
- Pulse Repetition Rate: 30 Hz, 60 Hz, synchronized to power line; 100 Hz to 100 kHz ±15%
- Duration: Continuous in four ranges 0.2 μs to 60 ms Accuracy ±15% or 0.2 μs, whichever is greater
- Rise Times: Rise time 0.05 μs
- Fall Times: Fall time 0.15 μs with output terminals shunted by 15 pF and 1 MΩ
- Open Circuit Output Voltage: 20 V
- Output Impedance: Approximately 200 Ω for positive pulses and 1500 Ω for negative pulses
