The General Radio 1404-A Reference Standard Capacitor were introduced in Catalog R (1963) and remained available through Catalog 1978.

The Type 1404-A capacitor is designed as a primary reference standard of capacitance with which working standards can be compared. The capacitor plates are constructed of Invar and assembled in a sealed container with dry nitrogen under pressure slightly above atmospheric. This type of construction is less affected by external atmospheric conditions and increased stability. Each capacitor is shipped with a calibration certificate with specifications for that particular instrument.

Specifications

  • Capacitance: 1000 pF
  • Stability: 20 parts per million per year
  • Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance: 2 ±2 ppm/°C from -20°C to +65°C.
  • Dissipation Factor: less than .00005 at 1 kHz
  • Maximum Voltage: 750 volts
  • Terminals: two locking GR-874 coaxial connectors
