The Type 1633-A is specifically designed for the measurement of iron-core inductors such as transformers, chokes and other coils with ferromagnetic cores. It's built in detector which is selective at nine specific frequencies is designed with a narrow bandwidth reducing harmonics generated in the unknown. The 1633-A requires an external generator with the power required to saturate the unknown to the desired level.  The Types [[1265-A]] DC Power Supply and [[1308-A]] Audio Oscillator generator combination along with the 1633-A make up the [[1630-AV]] Inductance Measuring Assembly.
