The General Radio KN Fluted Knobs was introduced in Catalog L (1948) and remained available through Catalog S (1965).
The Type KN series of fluted knobs are designed to replace the Type 637 series. The black KN knobs are made of phenolic resin with a molded-in brass inserts, later gray knobs are manufactured using thermo-setting plastic. This is a change from the molded bakelite composition of the 637 series. Many in the series are adaptable from 3/8" to 1/4" with the included reducing bushing. The series includes the special ZKNU-3 knob with an attached spinner for quick rotation of slow-motion controls. Larger KNSP knobs are designed to accept dial plates, 970-P1 and 970-P2. Gray knobs were only offered in Catalog S (1965), the last catalog that knobs were available.
