The General Radio 1401-C Standard Air Capacitor was introduced in Catalog N (1954) and remained available through Catalog S (1965). Type 1401-A is one of four in the series, see 1401 for an overview.

Type 1401-C is a two-terminal, 500 pF air capacitor designed as a laboratory reference or working capacitance standard. It features all-aluminum construction with shielded covers. Connections are Type 274 plugs spaced ¾ inches on center. This spacing matches the Type 716-C Capacitance Bridge, making the 1401-A useful as balancing capacitors when performing substitution measurements.

Specifications

  • Insertion Capacitance: 500 pF
  • Initial Accuracy: 0.12%
  • Peak Voltage: 900 V
  • Dissipation Factor: 0.00002
