The General Radio 107 Series of Variable Inductors were introduced in Catalog A (1916) and certain models remained available through Catalog T (1968).
The Type 107 series was introduced 1916 as "Variometers" or variable inductors of the Ayrton–Perry winding method. The basic design changed little, two circular coils arranged one inside the other. The inner coil is rotated by a calibrated inductance dial. By changing the orientation of the rotor coil inductance varied. The leads of the two coils are brought out to four binding posts where connections determine series, parallel or mutual inductance settings. In 1932 five new types were announced, types 107-J, 107-K, 107-L, 107-M, and 107-N. These five were the only types available until production stopped after Catalog T (1968) in 1968. These types produced from 1932 to 1968 featured a Bakelite panel and walnut case. The chart below contains published specifications, tags attached to the panel displayed the actual values.
