The General Radio 1424-A Decade Capacitor was introduced in Catalog Q (1961) and remained available through Catalog 1973.
The Type 1424-A is decade capacitor constructed with Polystyrene dielectric capacitors. With a total capacitance of 10 μF at 1 μF steps and 500 V maximum voltage, it comprises a low dissipation decade standard. The aluminum outer case and panel are insulated from both capacitor terminals, so that either two- or three-terminal connections can be used. The connections are Type 938-A Jack-Top binding posts plus a ground terminal with a shorting link. Each capacitor is supplied with a calibration certificate with up to date specifications.
Specifications
- Total Capacitance: 10 μF
- Capacitance per Step: 1 μF per step
- Dielectric: Polystyrene
- Adjustment Accuracy: ±0.25% at 1 kHz
- Maximum Safe Voltage: 500 V, peak, below 10 kHz
