The {{Title|General Radio 1404-B Reference Standard Capacitor}} were introduced in {{Catalog S}} and remained available through {{Catalog 1978}}. 

The Type 1404-B capacitor is designed as primary reference standards of capacitance with which working standards can be compared. The capacitor plates are constructed of Invar and assembled in a sealed container with dry nitrogen under pressure slightly above atmospheric.  This type of construction is less affected by external atmospheric conditions making increased stability.  Each capacitor is shipped with a calibration certificate with specifications for that particular instrument.
